Documentation for the final group exhibition 'from one shore to to another, my name might not be the same' at UTA artist space, Atlanta.
In collaboration with artist Célia Rakotondrainy, floral artist Carolin Ruggaber, interdisciplinary artist and model Daniela Suleymanova, and myself; the Photographer.
This dream team started in the cold of the winter pandemic in 2020. After connecting, planning, and discussing, it started with a photoshoot built by a concept and idea around identity. Caro created each set with specific floral arrangements based on the model, Daniela's origins and immigration journey. With various sets taken over two full days of shooting, Celia than began her process of creating the paintings from the photographs taken.
After a few years of devoting her time and heart into it, consistently working on them, letting them grow, expand, and flourish, Celia had the opportunity to showcase them at UTA space in May 2023. This turned into a continuation of our collaboration, with a group exhibition where we each had the opportunity to share a piece of ourselves, to support and intertwin, and show our perspective through our artwork.
These images don't just show the result of the exhibition, but the build of the long days prior, full of creating, and pushing, to have our vision come to light.
