"From one shore to another, my name may not be the same"
5 May — 3 June 2023 at UTA Artist Space in Atlanta, United States
Documentation for the final group exhibition 'from one shore to another, my name might not be the same' at UTA artist space, Atlanta.
In collaboration with artist Célia Rakotondrainy, floral artist Carolin Ruggaber, interdisciplinary artist and model Daniela Suleymanova, and myself; the Photographer.
This dream team started in the cold of the Winter pandemic, 2020. After connecting, planning, and discussing, we started with a photoshoot built around the concept of identity. Carolin created each set with specific floral arrangements based on the model, Daniela's, origins and immigration journey. With various sets taken over two full days of shooting, Celia then began her process of creating the paintings from the photographs taken.
After a few years of heartfelt devotion and consistent painting, allowing the work to grow, expand and flourish, Celia had the opportunity to present a showcase at UTA space in May 2023. This turned into a continuation of our collaboration, with a group exhibition giving us both the opportunity to share a piece of ourselves, to support and intertwine, and to show our perspective through our art.
These images don't just show the result of an exhibition, but also the build up of the long days prior, full of creating and pushing to have our joint vision come to light.

Installation by Bruna Mayer, from 2021-2022. Based on the idea of life beginning with death; I documented the process over multiple months, witnessing the growth, changes, and finally, the diminishing of the living microorganisms during this time.
From Bruna's words - "it consists of an illuminated display case, holding inside living microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria found in the soil of Berlin cemeteries. Although invisible to the human eye, these organisms will grow and multiply within these containers, forming their own evolving and unpredictable patterns, thus becoming visible to the viewer. The work proposes a reflection on life and death, the transience of our existence, and the interdependence among all beings."
