“Rediscover your memories and stories through your images of 2025”

You don’t need to be a photographer, just curious about exploring your own life through pictures.

Hey! I’m Izzy! An artist, photographer, and graduate of Therapeutic Photography at Robert Gordon University.

When I was ten, I found my first film camera beside a garbage container at my sister’s soccer tournament. “Can I take it?” I asked my dad.

From that moment on, I was rarely without a camera in hand. Taking snapshots of the everyday, the people I love, my surroundings, and the quietness of my solitude.

This love of documenting began early and grew, almost unintentionally, into a way of processing, grounding, and remembering life.

When my father became ill when I was eighteen, I began photographing the days my family and I navigated caring for him together. After his passing four years later, I found myself turning to photography to explore what words I couldn’t access. I began to photograph the presence of absence, and to give form to what I felt deeply but couldn’t yet articulate.

Photography became a way to create, to move through grief, and to heal. Now it continues to teach me about presence, gratitude, abundance of life through remembering, and the joy of creating and connecting with others.

My mission and wish is to support and guide you through your own journey with photography: helping you discover the insight, life changes, and beauty that can be found within this practice.

In addition to my workshops, I also offer one-to-one sessions for those seeking a more private, reflective process.

If this resonates with you, please feel welcomed to get in touch to arrange a short call and see if it feels like the right fit.

For reference of my own photographic explorations, my Personal projects can be viewed here.

WHAT  IS  THERAPEUTIC  PHOTOGRAPHY?

Have you taken photos on your phone before? Do you find yourself scrolling through your archives, reminiscing on the images you’ve captured? Do you reach for snapshots when telling someone about a personal experience, a place, or a moment that mattered?

Therapeutic photography helps you uncover the deeper stories your images hold, seeing each photograph not as a snapshot, but as a springboard for memories, emotions, and personal meaning. It offers space to pause, reflect, and honour your experiences, gaining clarity around the themes that shape your life. Through mindful, intentional image-making, you’ll develop creative tools to slow down, observe your surroundings and self more deeply, and connect with your emotions and personal perspective.

It uses the creative process of taking and reflecting on images to explore emotions and provide a deeper understanding to experiences. It’s not about producing perfect photos: it’s about using visual expression as a mirror, helping you see and understand parts of yourself more deeply.

These sessions draw on ideas from mindfulness, creative arts, and narrative practices, offering a way to find insight and self-compassion through the act of seeing.
